LETTERS OF WARNING (LOW)

Unacceptable Behaviors & Letters of Warning (LOW):

As this is a professional flight training environment, DFC expects those training under their guidance to act professionally. Listed below are examples of what DFC deems as unprofessional and unacceptable:

  1. Missing a lesson, scheduled appointment, or meeting

  2. Not being adequately prepared for a lesson

  3. Arriving late such that the lesson cannot fit within the allotted time and results in a cancellation

  4. Demonstrating a flagrant disregard for DFC Standard Operating Policies (SOPs)

  5. Dangerous, unsafe or disobedient attitude or behaviour (can be grounds for immediate removal)

Demonstration of these unacceptable behaviors will result in a letter of warning (LOW). Letters of Warning will be kept in the students file for the duration of their training and are to ensure unacceptable behavior is clearly identified. It should be noted that LOW’s are intended to promote a professional and safe learning environment for all students by deterring unacceptable behavior. Each issuance of a LOW will have consequences as described later in this section.

NOTE:
This is not an exhaustive/complete list of what is deemed as unacceptable - it is at the discretion of the issuer as to whether a LOW will stand. Should the trainee be issued a LOW and have a disagreement with the issuance, they may request a follow up meeting. Trainees are expected to reference their LOW, the SOPs, and any pertinent information they have during this meeting.

Consequences for Unacceptable Behaviours

  1. Any student behaviour that is found to be unacceptable will result in the student being issued a LOW.

  2. Should a student receive 3 LOW, they will be required to have a meeting with the CFI or their designate. The purpose of this meeting will be to try to find and resolve the cause for the repeated offences.

  3. A 4th LOW will result in the student being placed on academic probation, which shall clearly state the consequences of any further LOW.

  4. The 5th LOW will result in termination from the flying program at DFC London.
