FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PRIVATE PILOT LICENCE (PPL)
How much does it cost?
Based on Transport Canada minimum requirements (45 hours of flying), the cost is approximately $10,140 CAD. The average time in Canada to complete the PPL training is between 65-70 hours which would increase the total cost to approximately $15,000 CAD. The more often you fly, the less review will be required and the less time and money it will take.
How long will it take to complete the training?
If you fly full time (at least three training flights per week), it should take approximately 4 months. If you fly part time (one training flight per week), it should take approximately 12 months.
How old do I need to be?
You can be issued your Student Pilot Permit (SPP) at the age of 14 years to fly solo under supervision from your flight instructor, but you must be at least 17 years of age to be issued your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) in Canada.
